Some in-clinic or self administered point-of-care (POC) testosterone tests and other rapid tests are less accurate than laboratory-based testing, especially for low or high testosterone levels. Additionally, these self administered POC tests typically only measure total testosterone, without providing details on free testosterone or other related hormones, which are crucial for a comprehensive evaluation.

Testosterone levels are typically rechecked every 3 to 6 months during the first year of treatment. After the first year, rechecks may occur every 6 months, though this can vary depending on individual factors.
